We managed to make it down south this year to visit my folks. We
had a wonderful time. I hiked up a mountain to see a waterfall
that I hadn't seen before. It was about a ten minute drive from
my folks' place then a beautiful 2 hour hike up the mountain to
reach the fall.
Mom and Dad took us to Gatlinburg to see the Ripley's Aquarium.
It was amazing. They have 'glass' tunnels so you
can walk or ride the moving sidewalk under the fish. Ripley's has
hundreds of erotic...er, uh I mean exotic fish and every one of
them looked healthy. 'Touch-a-ray bay' was a stingray petting zoo.
The wild part is that there were lots of small sharks in there with
the rays. An employee is there using a small P.A. system to remind
everyone that... 'when a shark swims by take your hand out of
the water until it passes'. Touching the stingrays was my favorite
part.
Mom and Dad also took us on a tram ride to the top of a mountain
where there were water slides, ice skating, restaurants and shops.
Extreme heights make me a little nervous but here I am...alive,
not dead. They say a picture says a thousand words so click here
for 34,000 words
of viewing pleasure.
